For The Days I’m Like Martha

For the days I'm like Martha -- Zikora Okoye

“As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” — Luke‬ ‭10‬:‭38‬-‭42

Hey God, this is just a letter from your unworthy servant, Zikora. Recently, there have been too many days when I feel like Martha. I want my house to be in order because I respect you. I want Your name to be glorified, and for people to live how You called them to live. I want people to respect You, and I want all the world’s problems to be solved through Your love and compassion. See God, I want to be used by You. But often, I’m more concerned about being used by You than You. For the days I’m like Martha, forgive me, and lead me back to You. For at the end of it all, You are it all. You are the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, the one who rides on a white horse whose name is Faithful and True. You are my all in all. For the days I’m like Martha, remind me who You are, for You are the one thing that will forever remain. What I do for you doesn’t matter nearly as much as You. So for the days I’m like Martha, help me be more like Mary. Please, God, forgive me. I didn’t mean to stray away from your feet.
